A passkey is a, passwordless way to sign in that uses cryptography instead of something you need to remember. Instead of typing a password, your device creates two keys:

  • A private key – stored securely on your device or in your Enpass vault
  • A public key – stored by the website or service

When you log in, your device uses the private key to prove who you are without ever sending the key itself. That means:
