Troubleshoot: “Unknown User” error after enabling an Enpass vault sync with iCloud
When users set up sync with an iCloud account for the first time, a pop-up message “Look me up by email” may appear. If you enable this iCloud feature, your iCloud username will appear in Enpass’s vault settings. If you don’t enable this feature, “Unknown user” appears instead.
To fix the issue:
- Go to iCloud.com and sign-in with the Apple ID used for your Enpass vault.
- Click Account Settings below your name.
- At the bottom of the Settings screen, click Manage Apps That Can Look You Up.
- Select the checkbox for XXXX.sinew.walletx, then click Done.
- Return to Enpass, go to Settings > Vaults and select your iCloud-synced vault.
- Click Disconnect.
- Reconnect the vault with iCloud again, and enable "Look me up by email" during the iCloud confirmation step.
