Introducing Enpass 5.6.0 for iOS 12 with Password Autofill and Siri Shortcuts

While we're culminating our next major release- Enpass 6, Apple has officially released iOS 12 with a bucket full of awesome features and performance enhancements. The two such marquee features that caught our eyes are Password Autofill and Siri Shortcuts.
Thanks to Apple for providing the autofill APIs that now allows the password managers to autofill the login details in the Safari browser and the Third-party apps as well. This is the feature that will take your Enpass experience to a whole new level.
And then there's this stronger than ever Siri Shortcuts functionality that allows users to set a voice command to take a specific action in the app. We are very excited to tell you that our lovely users will be the first to get their hands on both these amazing features in any password manager.

Password Autofill

Although Enpass already existed as a share extension to autofill the logins in Safari, now with the help of Password Autofill, the process has become more streamlined with a comprehensive approach. You are now able to efficiently and quickly fill in the logins using Enpass right there in third-party apps, and in Safari without the need of any share extension.

How to enable Password Autofill:

To enable this feature, head over to Settings, scroll down to Passwords & Accounts. From there you can turn on the feature AutoFill Passwords and make sure you select Enpass from the provided options.

Now when you open an app or visit a webpage, the login credentials saved in Enpass appears in the QuickType bar on the keyboard, and you can fill in the details with a simple tap right from there.

Siri Shortcuts

This is definitely a feature that can make your life a whole lot easier by reducing swipes and taps to access your frequently used items in Enpass. In the situation when there's no time to go and look for any item in Enpass manually, you can just say the phrase and Siri will open the item in Enpass for you.

Here's how to set a shortcut:

Open the item you want to set a shortcut for, tap on the "Add to Siri", record your phrase, and done. Next time whenever you need to peek into the item use this command and Siri will open that item for you.

These are the new features, and we’re always looking for feedback. If you have something to share, drop us a line on Twitter or Facebook. If you’re looking for help, shoot us an email at support@enpass.io, or better still, engage with the Enpass community on our Forums.

Hey,
The feature is nice, and thanks a lot for it.
I however have an issue with this release: For what I can see: as soon as the autofill feature has been used, Enpass crashes when I manually launch the app itself (while autofill keeps working). Killing Enpass, killing Safari, disabling autofill totally in iOS settings does not help.
This happened to me the 2 times I tried the feature. I don't know what fixed it after failing the first time, I just left it as it was for a couple of hours.

Copy the Time-based- One-time password to clipboard after autofill would be great.

That way you don't have to open the app anyway to get it.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. We would like to share that the feature to Copy TOTP after Autofill after autofill has already been implemented and will be available in the next major update Enpass 6.

At my iPhone with I-OS 12 the autofill in 3rd party apps doesn't work.

I made the settings as described above and when I want to autofill the password I have the key symbol on my keyboard but when I press it there are no entries avalable from enpass. It says "ENPASS EXTENSION FAILED TO RECEIVE INFORMATION FROM THE APP".

Is there any setting wrong on my device?

Hi,

We are sorry for the unpleasant experience. Both the issues - app crashing and Enpass autofilling via extension, have been fixed, and an update with the fixes has already been submitted to the App Store for review. It's in the queue and hopefully will be available soon. We appreciate your patience while the update hits the App Store.

Hi, I see that the update was approve in the App Store 2 days ago that claims to have fixed the issue with 3rd party apps however I’m still getting the same error in one app in particular, Microsoft RD Client.

I’ve recently signed up for the Enpass 6 beta via TestFlight and note that the feature seems to work ok with that version m, just not in the current version from the App Store.

Hi,

That's really strange, and it's tough for us to assist you here. Let's look at the concern together. Please share the issue via email at support@enpass.io or our forums (https://discussion.enpass.io/) along with some more details and the version of Microsoft RD Client you use, so that our team can take a closer look. It will be invaluable to our development team to understand and address the issue.

Thanks.
