Discontinuing the support for Enpass on BlackBerry

It was the year 2013, the BlackBerry 10 was launched, we were pretty excited about it and in no time, rolled out Enpass for Blackberry, as a sleek and sophisticated product. It was loved hugely among the audience and was mentioned among the top apps for BlackBerry a couple of times in the media. All was going perfectly fine till the day the BlackBerry CEO, John S. Chen delated- “Blackberry will continue to support BlackBerry 10 for owners of existing devices for a minimum of two years but the company will not be utilizing the operating system on future devices.”

Even after this official disclosure from BlackBerry, we tried to support Enpass and kept it alive on the BlackBerry 10, but it was all like caring for the dying. The lack of app diversity in the BlackBerry pretty much stopped its adoption in the masses. The BlackBerry 10 platform is no longer evolving, so we have had to take this hard decision of stopping the support for Enpass on BlackBerry. We can feel how painful is it to discontinue a successful product where we've put in so much hard work and have got appreciated widely by our beloved users.

Well, no one can deny the fact that the mobile operating systems offered by Google and Apple – accounts more than 99 percent of the smartphone sales today, so we would be directing our major development efforts on the evolving mobile platforms used by the majority of people.

From now on, the Enpass app will be no longer available on the BlackBerry World for download, and no further updates will be coming for the existing users. We know you loved the product as much as we do but it is what it is. The basic customer support for the existing users will also be continuing until December 11, 2017, only.

Thank you for your understanding!

This is natural progress.
You're still doing an awesome job being on every platform.
Kudos!

I can understand the discontinuation of further development of a product running on a dying platform. What I absolutely can't understand are the personal consequences for those customers having paid for the product and now are unable to use what they have paid for. Over night the app vanished from my Blackberry Classic and with it the data I now have no access to. This is not a proper way of dealing with customers. Enpass is advertised as an app that is running and storing data locally on the device, not using cloud storage out of security reasons. That is exactly why I chose Enpass. Why can't this app stay on my device unupdated until I decide either to change the device or the app? Why can't I still use what I paid for?

That's what I am eager to know as well: why was it so crucial to remove the app from AppWorld?? That was obviously very emotional and decision which wasn't thought over quite well.

Hi,

That the application is no longer maintained why not...
But it should stay on the appworld in its latest version ! Why remove it ?
Then, synchronization is no longer done with dropbox? Why ?

Dropbox has dropped BB10 support officially as well.

Is there any discount for being a Blackberry user and have a paid version and migrate to other platform? ex. Android or IOS?.

Thanks

Right! Especially since Enpass was removed from the store, thus indirectly pushing users to a different solution. It feels obvious that BB users would get a discount for Enpass on Android / iOS.

Why kill the app for BB10? Fine it will no longer be developed, but neither will BB10. Therefore, if Enpass for BB10 works now – it should continue working.
Those who continue to use BB10 devices understand that the OS (and associated third party apps) will no longer be developed but are prepared to accept those limitations. Those who have paid for the Enpass BB10 app in good faith should not have it withdrawn simply because it will no longer be developed/supported. It should continue working, and should be available for reinstallation from BB app world.

Hi. This issue should really be addressed by Enpass company and not just being silently ignored. BB10 users paid for the app and they have right to keep having it in its latest version even if it is not developed / supported any more.

I am not a Blackberry user but I agree it is very disappointing that Enpass is not addressing any of the comments or concerns here.

Hi All,

Our sincere apologies for the large delay and we do understand your concerns and frustrations.
Sadly we have to discontinue Enpass for BlackBerry so that no new users can download and purchase the virtual good. But we do want that our existing users can anytime re-download the app in case they reset the device to factory settings. But some of our users were not able to download the Enpass again from their purchase history. We contacted BlackBerry regarding this issue and were in talks with them. But it took more time than expected to resolve the issue.

So if any our BlackBerry user is facing issues in re-downloading please contact us at support@enpass.io with their purchase receipt.

Thank you to all contributors of this comment area. All the complaints were helpful and in the end the Enpass Team issued the above statement to get in contact with them. I did so and although the support for Blackberry users officially ended on Dec. 11th 2017 they gave me a hint how to download Enpass to my new Blackberry Classic I had to change to due to technical issues with the previous one and so I can still use the software I have paid for. Thank you support team!
